چکیده
Purpose We analyzed the dynamics of blink and defined index in facial nerve palsy (FNP) patients using an ocular surface interferometer associated with clinical characteristics progress. Methods In total, 49 were enrolled this study. All tested which is used to measure patterns (total (TB), partial rate (PBR)) (blink time (BT), lid closing (LCT), closure (CT), opening (LOT), interblink (IBT), speed (CS), (OS)) 600 frames recorded over 20 s. The distance lagophthalmos modified interpalpebral fissure (IPF), was as actual moving upper eyelid, subtracting from IPF, measured ImageJ program. types FNP “idiopathic” (Bell’s palsy) “surgical” (following neurosurgery). Patients classified into “acute” “chronic” based on duration 6 months onset FNP. mild or severe according degree exposure keratopathy—as “severe” if treatment such tarsorrhaphy gold plate insertion required. Results Reduced MRD 1 , brow height, IPF increased noted side. LCT longer CS, OS shorter CS idiopathic acute clinically severe. IBT Conclusion Analyzing dynamics, study suggests meaningful indicators among profiles LCT, IPF. It more type than surgical patients. can be a useful tool for evaluating activity severity indicator

The VIIth cranial (facial) nerve is largely motor in function (some sensory fibres from external acoustic meatus, fibres controlling salivation and taste fibres from the anterior tongue in the chorda tympani branch). It also supplies the stapedius (so a complete nerve lesion will alter auditory acuity on the affected side). From the facial nerve nucleus in the brainstem, fibres loop around the ...

متن کاملManagement of Synkinesis and Asymmetry in Facial Nerve Palsy: A Review Article
Introduction: The important sequelae of facial nerve palsy are synkinesis, asymmetry, hypertension and contracture; all of which have psychosocial effects on patients. Synkinesis due to mal regeneration causes involuntary movements during a voluntary movement. Previous studies have advocated treatment using physiotherapy modalities alone or with exercise therapy, but no consensus exists on the ...
